Put simply: if you let malware stay on your computer, and acccidentally activate a dormant virus, it could compromise your ability to remove the malware. As in, it neutralizes your antivirus software.
As in, click the goddamned button.
Also, quick scans don't ensure a clean computer, run a full scan. Which also doesn't ensure a clean computer, just moreso than a quick scan.
