Author Topic: Why can't they build a Muslim community center in New York again?  (Read 12790 times)

Sounds like a nice place to live at! Does it really exist?

If you move to another place with different religion and culture, loving accept it, don't start building your churches and other temples there and expect people to love your culture. They move to a new place and then they think they own it. I doubt they would let white people build christian churches in their homeland especially near to site of major landmark.

You americans took it from the pepole that alredy lived ther eh?

Those that lived there first was called indians i think....

I don't know if indian is the right translation to the word i meant, i don't know so much english :P

"Native American", "Indian" refers to the misunderstanding that when the British first landed, they thought they were in India.

Where do you live?

You obviously have no information about the US, it's illegal to persecute anyone on basis of religion, love, race, or otherwise. Try reading the Declaration of Independence, or the Constitution of the United States.

Oh no! More religion in America!

I don't mainly see a problem with a Muslim community center, but by building it in the middle of new york is basically making it an easy target.

1.Where do you live?

1.Estonia.

2.Same could be said about every modern country, but it's not that simple. I have nothing against their race, love. I just don't like when the foreigners press their culture and religion on the majority. And I do know that US was founded by foreigners. But christians are the majority now.
Just my point of view. And no, I'm not christian. I hate all religions equally.

...
Really?

They aren't pressing their religion on anyone is my point, a Mosque is just a place of worship for THEM. They aren't Jehova's Witnesses.

Then they could make it in less noticeable place, couldn't they? And why the hell do they need a place of worship anyway? They could just pray in their own home. Same applies for all other believers.

You realize it's being built between two buildings in a crowded city area two blocks from the actual site right? It's not in a noticeable place, that building lot has gone unnoticed for decades.
Also most, if not all religions require a place of worship. Churches, Temples and Mosques are all vital to religions. You don't need to like religion (I agree, religion is all equally stupid) to respect another persons belief system.

Well, if it looks like or resembles a mosque, it is noticeable. If it's just a normal building, then okay I guess.

I bet you if it's built someone is gonna blow it up or vandalize it.
Either Muslim or a different religion.

Churches look like Churches, they're extremely noticeable. This is a Muslim community center, it's going to look like a building with distinctly Middle-Eastern architectural style.

2) Also for a more legitimate reason I remember reading that it actually breaks some religious law of Islam so some muslims dont want it.

Because muslims are crazy
