You open up the computer:
You forgot about your "Important Stuff" folder, that has bypass codes for just such an occasion. You interface them with your ID card so you can open the airlock and enter the actual ship. You also believe one accesses your dad's room.
You are indeed able to get into your father's room...
...but he's lying in a pool of blood. He's most likely dead already. You're barely surprised. After all, he WAS mauled by a pirate. His laptop is lying on his desk.
