i just got steam but i haven't got a single game i want alien swarm but it says estimated time to download is 34 minutes!!!! is it really 34 minutes long or like 2 minutes long because I've downloaded a game not steam but a game and it said 20 minutes long but it only took 2 minutes so is the 34 minutes true or not and is alien swarm fun tell me by doing x/10

But they usually aren't.  It said it would take five hours for TF2 to download, and it ended up taking 15 minutes for me.

no, they aren't at all. mine went from 2 days to 2 hours to 1 hour to 30 minutes to 30 seconds to done. in about 10 seconds.

It gives you a longer estimation because thats the estimation it bases off of when you start your download. Generally for most people it takes a while for the download to go full speed, it doesn't go full speed automatically.

Also it takes me barely 5 minutes to install Portal I think.
