If you've got the money, do it. 3 Months from home is little compared to the chance to advance your education, travel in a different continent, make new friends and experience foreign culture. Considering you will leave home eventually to take on your own life, a nice 3 month learning experience, which will no doubt improve your concept of culture and much more, is absolutely worth it.

You should take it if budget allows. Traveling is very important when your young, as you may not get the chance later in life. It gives you a more worldly view of things, and allows you to immerse yourself in other cultures. Plus, you'll be getting a good education. It's hard to leave home for a long while, yes, but think how much more you'll appreciate it after 3 months away. And it's during the summer, so too much won't be going on most likely.
