Author Topic: I need a new computer. (Desktop)  (Read 1576 times)

My computer seems to be getting slower and slower everyday, so I plan on getting a new one. I need a computer that can run Crysis on High settings Mineceaft Infdev without fog, Alien swarm, Garry's Mod, Oblivion, Half-Life, Blockland faster, and for Two Worlds 2. The computer must be $300 or less, but if my suggested computer won't do it, then It can be a little higher.

I plan on getting the Inspiron 570. ($299.99)

Processors
AMD Sempron™ 140 (2.7GHz, 1MB)

Operating System
Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium, 64Bit, English

Optical Drives
16X DVD+/-RW Drive

Memory
2GB2 Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM3 at 1066MHz- 2 DIMMs

Hard Drives
320GB5 Serial ATA Hard Drive (7200RPM) w/DataBurst Cache™

Integrated ATI Radeon HD4200 Graphics

Would this computer do, or is there something that can run the requested items?
Any suggestions, or is this fine?

Well if you don't plan on playing modern games like L4D2, I guess it's alright. I recommend the alternative of building your own computer. I can suggest parts if you wish.

No way. That computer seems pretty awful. 2GB of RAM? Nope.

AMD Sempron? You best be joking.

You'll definitely have problems running more modern games.

How much are you willing to spend on a prebuilt desktop?

Depends. I mostly play Minecraft and Blockland, maybe only for Two worlds 2, Blockland, Minecraft and Alien Swarm?

Seriously low end. Any gaming computer will not have less than 4GB RAM.

If that's all you're doing then fine.

You should use Dell's little make your own Alienware laptop.

You can decide what you want/need, and basically choose it's price, at the cost of features..

Mom says Alien ware is a nerds computer. It can be used for other things. D:

He said he doesn't really want a gaming computer; just a computer that will let him play some games a little better than his current computer.

Also, pretty much anything over 2GB is overkill. I've noticed no difference to anything after I've upgraded from 2GB to 4GB.

Smart woman.

Alienware sucks.

It's like buying a Mac except it won't suck as much but for the same price.

No not really. 4GB is optimal. Have fun trying to run anything with a quad core and a high end GPU with only 2GB. High end games will be pretty slow.

Because you don't notice anything OBVIOUSLY means it's unnecessary!

I just need a good computer that can run those games without the computer to stop responding.

If there's no difference, it's unnecessary.

My friend's older gaming computer only has 2GB of ram and a quad core and it ran crysis on high and got 30+ FPS

I'm amazed.
