It's basically like paying for the whole care over time only you don't get to own it forever and you have to pay for it to get repaired

You can't claim it as an asset, you don't own it, if you get into an accident and the car is totaled you still owe the difference to the car company, if you can no longer afford a lease then you will be financially responsible to pay the difference after the car is taken away an auctioned off (Assuming it doesn't go full price), et ceteria. It's normally a bad idea to lease, however good deals can come off it. A person just has to be careful not to get scammed.
