gaming laptop build

ok so I'm gonna get a gaming laptop this weekend, how are these specs?

intel core i7 2.66 ghz (3.3 ghz turbo mode)
Radeon mobility HD 5850
4 gigs of ram
windows 7 home premium.


anything I need to upgrade? or does this look good?

Can you go more indef with your specs? Anyways seems like a decent build but I'm not familiar with Radeon cards so I can't tell if the vid card sucks or not.

Motherboard if possible but I can understand if you can't find it. It's a pain in the ass to find out what model motherboard you have.

Just make a desktop computer. You can't replace video cards on laptops.

It's a laptop, why does it matter?
The specs look good, especially for a laptop.

This personally. You can get the same thing if not way better for the same price/ cheaper.

problem with that is, is that my parents are helping me pay for it if I can take it and use it at college, and they don't see a desktop as being productive at college, they want me to be able to use it in classrooms etc.


and as far as motherboards go, I have absolutly no idea what motherboard I'm getting, is it something I really should look into?

IMO, you really wouldn't want to carry an expensive gaming computer with your games and account info on it would you?

If I were you I would buy a great gaming desktop (probably same processor, better graphics) and buy a netbook or cheap small laptop for work.

but I did notice one difference, my processor is wrong, they company is not offering the i7 dual core anymore. Turns out now I will be getting an i7 quad core 740QM 1.73 ghz (2.93 ghz turbo mode) with a 6 M cache? I assume that would be better correct? or should I not get a quad core stick with dual core and downgrade to the i5 540 m 2.53 ghz (3.06 ghz turbo mode) with a 3 M cache? I assume the quad core would be better for gaming correct?
