Wrong, sir. They are the absolute best PSPs on the market (2nd best being the 2000's). They have the most support in the way of CFW and mods. The only major problem I've found is that the brown townog breaks. A lot.
Anyway, I'm considering buying another PSP (A 2000 this time) because my other 2 1000s were modded too much (But they look frickin' epic). As for games you should by, it depends on what your tastes are.
Patapon is a really good rhythm platformer. Monster Hunter is a great adventure game. Exit is a great platformer. SOCOM: FTB 2 and the Starwars Battlefront series are great shooters. Twisted Metal, Ridge Racer, and Crazy Taxi are good racing games.
I'm also thinking about buying whatever the new PSP that P$ is sure to release after the 3DS, instead of the 2000.
