Author Topic: Getting your first car  (Read 3195 times)

I am getting mine as soon as I can. A rather interesting car, in fact!

1982 Lotus Seven Fejer 7 in Stittsville, Ontario

$17,000 (CAD)

Now, as a kid I've always wanted a Caterham 7, but everywhere I've looked for a  brand new one and they're incredibly expensive. The cheapest, in fact, is around $30-40,000.

This is a brutally good deal for a Lotus 7, and even though the owner says it is a "Replica", it still has the Toyota engine in it that came with the old 7's and it still would perform beautifully.

I have just been offered a job at a local tech store called Future Shop, which means I might be able to start saving up for it. If not, there are plenty more fancy cars on this website that I might be able to afford, including a Jaguar from the 80's for $800.

Disecusue.

I bet it's got stuff safety ratings

Still doing the pine furnishings?

I could care less about that, if I want a super-safe car I'll drive my dad's. :D

Cars are for getting around, why would you want a car that doesn't get you around safely?

I love the seven. My dad was thinking about getting a kit for one so we could build it together and take it to car shows and cruises and such. But that fell through and we're looking at other cars. I still might do it on my own if I get enough money. Also, if you decide to build one yourself, the starter car is about $10,000 and I think the kit is only $3,000.

Cool > Safety

Also, if he's a good driver, he should really need a whole ton of safety.

I hope you're able to get it, but I still don't get why you people like these old cars, the newer ones look much better in my opinion. At least this one doesn't have rough edges on it like some others that come to mind...

You just answered your own question.

Actually, it's not an old car. You can get one brand new if you like. It's just based off an old car.

Cool > Safety

Because looking cool is more important than your life

See, thats the thing, it won't be "old" when I'm done with it. :D

Just a few ideas, I'll get a new set of Caterham seats for it, a new rollbar, a hardtop roof, rework the interior, etc, etc.

That's the fun with buying used cars :D

Also, just while I was looking around, I found this. :D

Being a skeleton is more badass.
