No, but people will freak the forget out and chaos/hilarity will ensue

Also, How do we know that the one mayan profit guy was actually respected among his people? He could have been known as the village idiot/eccentric back then.

They believed in sacrificing humans for gods.

Yes. A bunch of people will be bracing for "impact" at 11:59 on December 20th and then be like "wtf" on the 21st.
wtf man

Who said the world was gonna end on this date? (Please find specific quote please)

wtf man
You should be proud of yourself for me using the same line you used.

People be robbing stores for twinkies, making themselves fat and on the 21st be all "wtf"
women will get raped on the streets in mad frenzys and then on the 21st will be all like “this never happened and I dont get the cops up your ass”

The Mayan calendar.
The Mayan calendar, hurrdurrdurr
The Mayan calendar, in all actuality, doesn't end on that date. Granted, it does draw some closing and marks astrological events, but it is actually the beginning of a new cycle. The calendar resets itself, and it doesn't "end" until it does that 5 or 6 times, if memory serves. This would be the first reset. :o

Why?
Because I'm planning to through a party. Which will be quite an event. :o

The guy who made the calendar was a prophet, the famous mayan calendar was not a calendar in the sense that we know, it was just a chart of prophecies and the periods they would happen known as Katuns that repeated themselves. In truth the Katun that will be repeating itself in 2012 has already happened. Most people don't know anything about the stuff they fear.
