Well, my first couple of times involved me being depressed and alone for hours, before I realized that I had to forward ports. But my first time making a WORKING server was right after I heard about the update, and rushed to make a server with an old build I had saved. I wasn't there for long because I didn't plan to really do much of anything, but it mostly consisted of me "OMG!! OMG!!!"ing all over the place because people could finally join my server.

But, nowadays, basically everyone who comes to my server are already my friends.

I haven't actually hosted recently, but every time I do host, I will get my friends on the game who join, my regulars, if you will.
And then I'll occasionally get a new person and if they stick around long enough, they generally keep coming back.
Makes my server quite nice for me, really. I always have people I want to see on there.
