It's a cycle. If you accept something for how it is solely because it is that way, your children will gain the same ideals, and their children, and their children after that. It's one thing if something is fine, then there is no need to fix it. It's another if something is broken and you decide it's not worth fixing because you can just ignore it.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the internet is an evil place, but the attitude people have on here can be rather rude and much of which they would never exhibit in there day-to-day lives. There are people who don't process that on the other side of the monitor, there are actual people you are talking to. You have an actual, real effect on their lives, even if you think that you don't. And there are others who do, but simply decide that it isn't their problem, whether it be because they want to be amused or because the same attitude was practiced towards them. Another cycle.
Now, granted, Taboo has a point. There isn't always a need or reason to get worked up over things. But that doesn't mean you should just go along and accept that this is what the internet or life is and you can't change it. That's often a step to acting the way they did towards you. You should realize you can change something, even if the impact isn't large or immediate. A journey of a thousand miles starts with one step. This works either way.
