Author Topic: Could someone please direct me to a guide on human skeletal proportions?  (Read 1313 times)

Yeah, I have a ton of trouble drawing humens because my proportions are always out of whack, so I can barely handle a boring looking-straight-at-you-doing-nothing-pose, much less anything interesting.

mainly female, but if you have a good guide on both genders that's fine. a short google search didn't get me what I wanted, and you guys have given me some good guidance before.

pliss halp

that's fairly helpful, but i'd rather find something geared more towards sketching and the actual drawing process. also women

not really :u
I don't know then. I usually go by the whole body being equal to 8 heads and have a drawing similar to that on hand.

I want a guide, not a (fairly poorly drawn) diagram that has no legend

You need these books:

Official website:

These books will improve your drawings.
checking this stuff out...

not a huge fan of books (or more importantly, paying money) though
edit: that's not really what i'm looking for either, looks like it goes way more in depth than what i'm wanting. I'm not a literal artist, I just want my (cartoonish) drawings to be atleast somewhat proportionate.

I draw a stick figure and re-shape it into a human form, it usually finals out to be correct proportions. I don't know about you.

I draw a stick-figure-ish skeleton, then refine that, then refine that some more.

i'm just having trouble with the initial skeleton's proportions. I'm going to experiment with the tips given on man 2's link and see if I can work anything out from there.

Is there any specific part, such as the arms, legs, torso, or head?

want to draw your own researcho i see?

The upper leg should be about 1/3 of body length (I think).
