5mW core would burn...what again?
I need to start my world domination.

Well, color can deside how strong or good qaulity it is... correct?

Nope...
It's all mW.
Green is the brightest.
Blue is the coolest looking
and I guess you can say red is good for burnning.

They say this because, red is the least brightness, so you don't need goggles when burnning (Well you do, but if you didn't, you could see what would be happning)

Blue use to be the highest amount, regardless of mW, but due to breakthrough in laser technology, we can say it's the cheapest.
Buy a laser from wicked lasers, I recommend the red pulsar, bye the wicked cap set, and laser goggles. That should be about 200 dollars.
If you have any spare, bye the case for it, and you got a nice laser that can cut tape, pop balloons, smoke leather...

What was this advance in Laser technology?

Easier to manufacture now resulting in lower prices?

I'm probably going to buy a green 20 mW laser for fun.

Wickedlasers won't load for me. It gives my computer a heart attack for some reason.

Anywho, I guess I want blue. As long as it works as well as others, because I love the color cyan.

So... you suggest Pulsar thing?

Blue diodes cost less now...
a 5 mW blue use to cost up to $1000, now a 1000 mW blue cost about $200
and since blue cost so low, they are lowering every thing else.

@Cyanian
The pulsar is red, but if you want a violent or a blue, get the E1 excuetive. Or if you wanna save up another 100. get the 1000 mW artic. (Not recommended as a first laser)

Now lets hope SSDs cost less too.

Oh okay!

EDIT: Wtf, how did that get by me?

I have a 100mm 532nm handheld.

SSd's?
Solid State Drive.

They are the new technology replacement for hard drives. Currently expensive as forget though.

They make almost no noise at all and require little watts from your power supply.

Oh cool, by they don't sound similar, so not likely.
But yeah, if you have about $200 to spend, just follow those links, and you try to pick out whats necessary.
Remember, the safety goggles are a must. Even the reflection of a shiny tile, can leave some kind of damage.

For example, a friend of mind shined a 50 mW green laser to his eye. The first time he did it, he could see a black mark.
He decided it would be a good idea to do it again, and now that black mark in the middle of his vision is there permanently.
EDIT: added recommended lasers to the op!

Because the current lasers on weapons are used to designate targets and aren't powerfull enough to kill/destroy things.

On the contrary, the military created an laser system mounted to an APC used to disarm/destroy missiles. Also to melt little faces.
