@otis i think that's quite true.. i've had bad experiences with coaches/injuries. also goddamnit wrist still hurts

Reach out and make connections. Attend social events.

I'm in a totally new school too and I know exactly how you feel. It's stuff, I know. Hell I'm in a new environment more than a new school.

Just eventually and quietly place yourself in conversations. If you're generally stereotyped as a "nerd" or you have a high pitched voice for your grade or some other un-grown thing you should probably avoid them and hang around with others like you.

Tell your coach to go suck a richard. Coaches often know jack stuff about physical fitness and protecting your body. The worst thing to do with an injured body part is to use it heavily.
Thats odd, most coaches I know actually let injured players rest. Or maybe they were actually trained for the job.

at my last school this was true, but i'm now in an exam-entry school, so i don't think i'll classified as nerd. hell, i'm not even in algebra honors. although.. i don't think i could. applying to school doesn't get you into algebra honors.. i don't think.
