Author Topic: Christmas laptop thread again  (Read 3389 times)

Remember when I made that thread about me getting a laptop for christmas? No? Well I'm getting a laptop for Christmas and I have done some more research and decided that I don't need an alienware. I noticed in my issue of PCGamer the Sager laptops so I looked them up. I customized one and heres the specs:

What I'm looking to do with this laptop is mostly just play games. And by games I don't mean stuffty flash games. I mean fairly high demanding games such as: GTA IV, Mafia II, Crysis maybe, Source games, Fallout 3, Oblivion, Just Cause 2, Assassins Creed 2/Brotherhood when it comes out, and some other ones I can't think of.

Now a few questions:
1. Will these be able to run all, or at least most, of my games?
2. Do any of you have either of these models? If so, are they good?
3. The first costs $1113.96, and the second costs $1270.05. Is there a better laptop deal for this price than these model?

NOTE: I'm not looking for a desktop, I need a laptop. So don't suggest I get a desktop.

Seriously you guys beat this to death. Price for performance, you can't beat a desktop but for some people being able to play Crysis while taking a stuff is worth paying a premium for.

I said it in the last thread, Ill say it again. I need a laptop so i can  take it back and forth from my mom and dads house. Also to LAN parties. I already have a nice Alienware desktop at my dads, and a decent computer at my moms. I need no more desktops.

Being able to take a stuff while playing can come in handy, too.

Anything but Inspiron.
Inspiron is annoying.

But thats what my ZuneHD is for!

I love how no one has contributed to the thread!

You can move a desktop between two houses and party's.

It just takes a bit more work.

See but taking it between houses I have to take it to school first, and you can't lug a computer through the school very easily.

Enough telling me to get a desktop, please.

alienware is terrible i dunno why you would even consider it
but an i7 with 1gb video card is fine to run most games

But can it play these games?: GTA IV, Mafia II, Crysis maybe, Source games, Fallout 3, Oblivion, Just Cause 2, Assassins Creed 2/Brotherhood when it comes out, and some other ones I can't think of. And at what graphic level will it be able to play at? Low, Med, or High?

Also I have an Alienware desktop. Its not horrible, just horribly overpriced.

Even if you're planning on getting a laptop, that thing's going to be not only overly-priced, but also too heavy/using too much battery power to really take anywhere.

I hate to say it, but a desktop PC is your absolute best choice.

If not, you don't need anything super-amazing like that. Get a $700-900 ASUS laptop.

The one that I chose is only 6lb and $1239 which my parents are willing to pay for.

Unfortunatly, laptops usually have:
1. Low RAM, generic memory capacity, ect.
2. A stuffty keyboard which you cannot possibly spell correctly on
3. A trackpad.

If you have the $$$, however, i would probably get one of these.

And you have no idea what you're talking about.
- Laptops usually have ample amount of RAM (3 GB low-end, 4 GB standard)
- wtf is "generic memory capacity", is that the same as RAM...?
- Trackpads are okay once you get used to them.

Also, Linux is a free software operating system, not a PC.

Please do research before posting in a topic like this.
