Author Topic: Computer noises?  (Read 1939 times)

What's up with those little ticks and that constant tiny noise I hear when wearing headphones hooked up to the computer? It also makes this little "zeep" sound when I maximize and minimize my windows, and in short intervals it makes this "zip zip zip" sound. I've also noticed that when rapidly dragging the mouse over text it makes a sound like very quiet static.
Is it the sound of the magic computer wizard or what?

Check your system prefs. You can turn them off.

i think it has something to do with how you're using an brown townog headset/headphones

no theyre not those sounds

turn your sound all the way up and move your mouse over some text

Huh. I'm stumped. Perhaps the noises your Box is making? Like the fan and other components?

Even on mute it makes those ticks and boops and whatnot. It's not exactly maddening, but still confusing.

With my headphones out, it's completely mute. Er, not completely, I still hear some little ticks from the computer.

I would attribute the ticks to the box, and the others to the headphones. Get better headphones.

I had this weird tick when I close/open windows.

The only thing I hear from my computer is fans scrubbing on something making an electric sound. Not really loud, maybe it's your hard drives making those noises or something.

So? I hear a tick whenever I click.

It's so weird, it's like I can hear my CPU working.

I remember having this on an older computer. Very faint.

Ah I know this problem, and there is no single way to fix it because it depends on the hardware you have, including your case. For me, the grounding wire from the headphone jacks in the front of my case were also wired to the grounding wire from the front usb port, so doing anything on my computer (moving the mouse, playing games) would cause the noise of static synchronized with those events. My solution was to cut the connection between the usb and audio grounding wire. I also had the problem on an old P4 system, but it came through the integrated motherboard audio, so there was absolutely no way to fix that. If this is the case for you, then I suppose its possible that getting a non integrated sound card MIGHT solve the problem.

Harddrives can make sounds, bro.

The revenge of dial-up connection?
but still its obvious that its some sort of system in your computer making theese sounds for effect

Are you all blind to the possibility of this?, the facts are in the OP

Did anyone even read my previous post?
