No.
1 mL = 1/1000 L
Or, in other words
1 mL = .001 L
So if:
1000 mL = 1 L
Then:
500 mL = .5 L
Seeing as 500 is half of 1000 and half of one is .5.

I'm not behind, what you attached is exactly what I would have done. I could have easily solved the problem, I just have no idea where the hell he got the numbers from.

I failed and multiplied the 3 and the x and then multiplied the -4 and got -12, which screwed up the problem. That's what happens for not taking notes.
