Indeed. But I think he was trying to say that we should be grateful and much more joyful for the fact we have what we have, not bad for the fact others have less. Certainly we should extend our understanding and assistance to those less fortunate and give that what we can, but just feeling pity for people won't help them much (As you said). The American Indians lived with the bears, not often in place of them. And the "strong" survive in the cycle of life. Humans just often try to apply that idea to everything else.

Not so fast. Ever since the white expand west they told the Native that would stop expanding. Then a few months later they come back and take some more land with more claims of how they would stop expanding, but they kept lieing. Soon they start trying to kill of the natives by rounding them up and making them live in camps and giving them blanket with small pox. Also the Natives didn't believe in owning the land. They believed that the earth belonged to all who lived on it.
