Author Topic: I think I have created a great desktop. [FINAL COMPUTER THREAD FOR ME]  (Read 2403 times)

the brand name sucks, that is why you can save a ton of money on it

No, their graphic cards just suck flat out. The laptop I'm using has an ATI Radeon X1400 (5 loving years old, which I really need a new computer anyways. This thingy is dying and getting full on memory and stuff), and it sucks ass.

Perhaps because it's 5 years old

I do prefer nVidia, but I simply can't afford that if I want decent processor to go with it

ATI graphic cards suck.
Your an idiot lol. ATI is good stuff.

It's not just because it's 5 years old. Set the whole graphics card thing aside.

How can I get a power supply that will support the desktop well? Or does Dell just place the power supply they know will work into the computer?

The only other graphics card choice I have is a nVIDIA GeForce G310 512MB DDR3.

Uhhh... GPU?
Graphics Processing Unit

Oh you.

But the only video cards or whatever it gives me are:

    nVIDIA GeForce G310 512MB DDR3 [subtract $130.00]
    ATI Radeon HD 5450 1GB DDR3 [subtract $80.00]
    ATI Radeon HD 5670 1GB GDDR5 [subtract $30.00]
nVidia GeForce GTS240 1024MB GDDR3 [Included in Price]
    ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024MB GDDR5 [Add $50.00 or $2.00/month1]

Get the 5770. That will run what you need it for.

But will it take long before the graphics card isn't used anymore? What I like about nVIDIA is that they have graphics cards waaaaaay ahead of the game so they last longer.

Tell us what games you plan on running.

Counter-Strike: Source
Crysis
TF2
Left 4 Dead
G-Mod
Maybe Black Ops sometime
Alot of Steam games
Alien Swarm
Halo 2 (PC, der)

More games, just can't list a whole ton.

I'd recommend a minimum of Nvidia GT 240 or an  ATI 5670
you can run Crysis on mid-high with a decent processor with either of these

Well, I might just keep a lookout for coupons on computer parts and hunt on newegg and just build a PC with my dad.

You obviously know nothing about anything. The 5770 is between the GTS 250 and GTX 260. It is a fine card and better than any of the cards you posted that you could choose from.
