Author Topic: Building A Mac/PC  (Read 1299 times)

Well I've been forced to use using Mac OS X Leopard at my tech/magnet school and it's actually not a bad operating system. It's been ages since I last used a Mac and I'm actually pleasantly surprised with their new OS. They have lots of nifty features even if they rape your CPU such as the widgets feature. Anyways one of my dad's friends gave us an emulator to run Mac OS X on a PC. With this at hand me and my dad have been considering building a Mac/PC. We have most of the parts required from our older computers but we might have to go out and buy some extra parts. Should we go through with this plan?

EDIT: Also this isn't piracy. We have the OS itself, we're not emulating a torrented file.

Build and Mac do not belong in the same sentence.

Except the sentence I just used.

Try reading. It's a PC running a Mac OS. :/

Emulating an OS =/= Booting an OS.

Enlighten me.
Bootcamp on a mac does not emulate Windows, but instead partitions the harddrive and allows you to install the operating system on that side and boot to it.

Ah I see. Odly enough though, I don't think it was Bootcamp he gave us. I'll have to check.

I've never actually emulated an OS, but I'm pretty damn sure that emulating the Mac OS on a Windows machine (even if that's the only thing you're doing) there's going to be times when you're incapable of doing something that requires you to have installed to your hard drive/booting from that.

do it. it'll be interesting. you should definitely post the finished product here.

don't listen to all the friends who hate macs

I wouldn't. Did you even consider drivers?!

There is no way that I can see this working successfully.

Saying that something physically will not work isn't an opinionated statement.

Listen to me, I'm a maccigarette here.

Don't emulate Mac OS X.

Just use a PC.

Why? I'd like a Mac in my house but I don't want to spend 3k on a Mac.
