Author Topic: Recently upgraded from XP to 7, Blockland is no longer playable.  (Read 348 times)

I recently re-installed Blockland on my computer after installing Windows 7. Now, BL isn't playable anymore even in single player.

What happens, is that my FPS drops to really, really low levels. I'd estimate it to be about 0.5 FPS. This never happened in XP even with servers greater than 96,000 bricks. It's happening on every server I go to, including single player.

I also want to point out that every server is lagging the same way for me, and I know no one else is having this occur.

Specs [if it helps]:
RAM: 1GB [soon to be 2GB]
Video Card: nVidia 8400GS 512MB PCI [drivers are up-to-date]
Processor/CPU: Intel Pentium 4 2.0GHz
OS: Windows 7 (Tiny7 Rev01) Ultimate x86/32-bit
BL Resolution: 1024x768 windowed
Hard Drive: 40GB 5400RPM IDE [soon to be 320GB]

This also occurs when the Aero Interface and the wallpaper slideshow are off. Same goes for background applications closed. What's going on?

Forgot to mention this is the only game of mine doing this. Audiosurf, HL2, and GMOD are working just like they were in XP.

It might be a RAM issue. Blockland uses a lot of objects.

But this wasn't happening in XP. This just now started happening.

I think Win7 uses more RAM just running the OS than XP.
I may be wrong on this, though.

You're right.
That's why RAM requirements on games are higher for Win7/Vista/Mac.
XP uses less for the system.
Win7 and Vista were made to use more to be better, because if you want Vista/Win7, you shouldn't be running it with less than 2GB.
Mac preloads a bunch of core programs and that's why they 'load' so fast.
