Author Topic: Smoothshading in Blender?  (Read 1343 times)

Im making a playertype using blender and I wanted to add Smooth Shading to it instead of flatshading. How does one do this?

Ive tried selecting the mesh and clicking "set smooth" but it does nothing.

Assistance, please?

Why would you want to smoothshade? It looks ugly.

Playertypes dont exactly look "nice" with flatshading.

It just doesnt look natural.

Also, the horse, jeep, and part of the default minifig models are smoothshaded.... >_>

I think when you press "W" on the keybopard a shortcut pops up with bevel and such and one of them is set smoothshading i think..
I think also in like the menu on the bottom, while your in edit mode, one of the buttons down there says set smoothshading. (maybe in sculpting?)

The button doesnt work.

Didnt try the "w" menu though. Ill see.

Nothing. :c

Anyone else?

NOTE: I spawned a cube and clicked "Set Smooth" on it and It shaded it, but it WILL NOT add smooth shading to my model for some reason. Has anyone gotten similar problems and/or know how to fix them?

I beleive it has something to do with the armature.

That's easy go into edit mode press set smooth then after that press smooth till your liking it.

Lol.

Thanks for trying to help though, dude.

About what you said about the bones, I actually thought so myself, but the set smooth button dissapears when I select the bone. Any idea about what else it might be?

You must be in edit mode for the "set smooth" option to be in the w menu.

You must be in edit mode for it to take effect

I'm pretty sure that the "Smooth" button smooths out the face, not enables smooth shading.

You can't set smooth a bone or can you?
