Author Topic: I am going to rant about drivers now (of the car variety) (and you can too!)  (Read 2199 times)

I hate drivers.

Okay only most drivers. But I still hate drivers. I've been driving for a few years now but today after the longest time I've driven in one day I lost it. It didn't affect the way I was driving at the time, but I just lost it. I'm one of those people who isn't any fun and likes to follow the law. Maybe it's because I'm a boring person, or maybe I just don't like to get in trouble. I don't really know.

Anyway, I'm driving down the street, the speed limit was 35 mph. I was going 35 mph (what a concept!). Car after car passed me, going 40-50. One or two people looked over and looked at me funny. It wasn't necessarily a nasty look, it was more like a "who is this guy and what is he doing". Now here's what I can't figure out: Why do people get irritated with me for following the law? Maybe I didn't pay attention in Driver's Education that day, but aren't people supposed to follow the speed limit? It is, after all, a "speed limit" and not a "speed suggestion", is it not? I don't understand. I've considered getting a bumper sticker that says, although untruthfully, "You wish I was going faster? I wish my friend hadn't been killed by a speeder." Or maybe just "SLOW DOWN, IDIOT." I live in the U.S., by the way, so some of your laws might not be the same as mine.

tl;dr - Drivers who don't follow the law confuse me

Somebody explain to me how this works. Discuss drivers as well.

You sound like exactly like me lol. I've had my fair share of experiences of dumb people.

Except I can't drive quite yet, I should have my permit in less then a week, though.

Road rage, people in a hurry, and people who sometimes are intoxicated, usually the reasoning behind people driving fast.
if you want to stop it I suggest that you become an undercover cop

When I first saw this topic I could've sworn you were talking about computer drivers.

But yeah, I completely understand how you feel, bro. I've encountered my fair share of moronic idiots on the road who don't know what the hell they're doing. People who don't know how traffic circles work (a.k.a. roundabouts) really piss me off, because there's a traffic circle near my house that I have to drive through every time I go into town.

Yeah... I've had an experience like that before. Really annoying. I was going the speed limit on the highway, but some guy in front of me wasn't (he was going 10 under for whatever reason). So I safely go into the passing lane. Some bitch in an SUV wanted to pass to, I suppose, and so as I was passing she's riding my ass. As soon as there was a large enough space for her to pass me, she did. She cut off the guy we both just passed and then accelerated past me, honked, gave me the finger and drove off. Really loving pissed me off.

she's riding my ass.
that's terribly lovey
Also, I imagine this is why highway patrol love sitting at corners just waiting for someone to be slightly over the speed limit, especially near the bridge

I honestly thought I was the only person who followed road laws, glad to see I was wrong

This is not really a joke, more of something you wish you could do.
Get a lot of those crash bars outside of the car and whenever some idiot does that you can ram into them, not really crashing but waking them up.

the general populace goes 10-5 mph over the speed limit.

People who cut the shoulder to bypass people making a left:

RAGE

Not only is it illegal (driving on shoulder), it completely messes with the flow of traffic at intersections. I was once stopped at a light making a left during moderately heavy traffic; there was another car on the other side making a left as well. We each had a long line up of cars behind us and every single car on both sides cut us off on the shoulder. We ended up having several other cars trying to make lefts behind us and the light turned red before we finally got to make our turns. I'm sure the people making lefts behind us had to put up with the same bullstuff.

I love walking! :D!
Magick mage the magnificant has spoken!

(Bear with me here i don't drive yet) What about the people who don't get into the lane when other lanes are closing until the LAST SECOND. You had like 2 minutes to get over but noo. You have to hold everyone up because you need to squeeze between 2 trucks because you couldn't get in the lane 2 minutes ago when the sign said your lane was closing.

When I get my first car (very soon by the way, only two months), I'm gonna attach a loving train horn to the top of it, just in case I stumble upon a terrible driver.
