As far as I'm concerned, the only reason why badspot changed the look of blockland, was because when it went retail, he WOULD have gotten sued for using legos.

LegoUniverse is entirely different from Blockland. It's adventure based.
Blockland is a SandBox building game.

The similarities pretty much stop after the fact that both of the game use Blocks to construct things.

I think I read somewhere that Badspot tried to make a deal with Lego and Lego said 'no forget you' then he changed the content and released it. I could also be wrong though.
