I'm sorry for your loss, but I'm going to assume that your father abandoned you and your mother because of how long he wasn't around.

I'm not going to say he deserved it, but I think him leaving you guys like that makes him way less of a man than he ever could have been. I can't respect somebody who does that to their family.
