The mean people who want to marry each other said that if the purpose of the normal people wanting to prevent their marriage really wanted to do it to protect marriages, they should also prevent divorce between existing marriages. You thought they were saying divorce needs to be illegal in any case.

Don't you think preventing divorce would protect that marriage? Keep a family from breaking up, perhaps.
I think part of the point is that making a reason of "protecting marriage" is pretty much bullstuff.

In the same way, they're saying trying to ban gay marriage in order to protect marriage doesn't quite add up either.
