Author Topic: How do I open up Weapon_Gun in Blender?  (Read 2345 times)

I want to try my hand at making a few changes to the default gun, but how would I open it in Blender?

The 'Weapon_Gun' file is a zip file, open that up with winrar or a similiar program, in it will be a bunch of files such as images (edit with any image editor), sounds (any sound editor), server.cs (any text editor) and the model files (Blender can't import these, the only program that can is Shaper, and I've heard it's horrible)

How would I edit the model then?

If you can convert Sketchup files, Blender files, etc, to .dts, can't you reverse the process?

Shaper is the only known program with a .dts importer, .dts being the model format used with Torque games, including Blockland.
It can only export to Milkshape 3D ASCI format (.txt), DirectX (.x), Torque (.dts) and Torque Animation (.dsq). It also costs $35.

Import .dts file to Shaper > Export to ASCI > Import to Milkshape 3D > Export to .obj > Import into Blender

When exported in Shaper, the bones must be deleted or it will cause an error (in all of my experiences, at least).

I had that error too back on my windows.
It sucked because the models I wanted to open had bones.

Technologically seen, yes.
however, noone has made a .dts importer for blender (yet).

Shaper > Milkshape3D/3DSMax > .obj > Blender > .blend

And yes, Shaper is required.

You wouldn't/can't

unless you get shaper but trust me, its bad.

Import .dts file to Shaper > Export to .x > Import with blender

Fixed

Fixed
That works lol.

Except Shaper isnt free.

Lord knows why.

someone needs to post all the default weapon models(yes, I know they are already posted, let me finish) with bones and joints on this thread or another one in these formats:
  • MS3D
  • .BLEND
