Open With on Vista

Whenever i try to open a pic with "open with", the little menu only has the open with option, and when i click on it nothing happens, the menu stays and everything. But when i open the preview, and select open with, it works. whats wrong?

Vista is buggy as hell but I don't think it's the OS's fault in this case. Could be malware/viruses. I would scan my computer before jumping to conclusions.

ive scanned it before and it hasnt helped, maybe a dll or registry?
i cant wait to get seven or Linux...

I really doubt it. Try scanning with ad-aware and avast. They're really good programs. If you've used those programs then could you provide more information? So I could narrow down my search.

like what i use? i use WebRoot, Returnil, and Malware Bytes

It'd be a pointless virus to disable that feature.

It's probably a registry error.

Or it may be some crappy virus.

Who knows.

That's not what I meant but whatever. Anyways like I said try ad-aware and avast, they're both free and legit. If that doesn't work try the most simplest thing like checking if you have the latest service pack.

I also read some other threads. It appears that it's either a registry issue or it has something to do with a program called Vista AntiVirus or whatever the hell it's called.

you mean vista defender? i had that a while ago, messed up my exe registries, but i fixed it.

Yeah but it's pretty much the same concept. Also that explains a lot since you had Vista Defender. You might have not fully repaired your registry.
