Author Topic: Dell PowerEdge?  (Read 1558 times)

The only thing I could want for Christmas is a Dell Poweredge. Do you think this is a good buy? I hear they are super silent.

Tell us how you plan to customize it and how much each custom part costs--and make sure you tell us what you want to do with it.

I plan on hosting a website... :I Or a minecraft/blockland dedi server. Or maybe I'll stick with my site host I have now and use it as a master server, so if the site is dos'd, my server will stay alive.

Seems reasonable, but I wouldn't trust me since I haven't actually played an online game in over 5 months. Haha

Maybe you shouldn't have been such a nerd and not let people beat them out of you then.

All I want for christmas is you.

And all that silly tomfoolery.

My uncle gave me a PowerEdge as a server...

What is the thing you use for putting every computer in a house/school/building on one network?

I know about Citrix, but I'm talking about the physical things, not software.

A router, are you really asking that question?

Probably.

But what I' talking about isn't a router.

I think that you are a little confused on what a server is. I don't think that you'll be able to host either on that...

Just pickup a stuffty computer for $50 to host a server.

Already got that. People complain how slow it is, and it is loud as forget.

It looks like a good buy, but remember, IT IS A SERVER. But for 299...might wanna look at some reviews.

I have a Dell XPS i630.

It isn't server, it's a computer.

I can keep batch files open on it.  :cookieMonster:

The fan is so noisy.

Every minute some stuff runs, and for 1 second the fan changes suddenly. Usually the fan speed change is gradual.

My Dimension E310 is quieter than it.
