Author Topic: Red Ring of Death. Again. (Read 2697 times)

Today I got home, and I thought I might -removed due to spoiler- in Fallout: New Vegas. I turned on my xbox, and BOOM. I was hit with a 3-ring RRoD. Now, normally I would just ship it back to get it fixed, but This is my fourth time having my xbox break!! I do not have a warranty on it, and I would rather not pay 100 bucks to get it fixed.

It was showing signs earlier, yesterday and the day before, but I didn't think anything of it. I am wondering, should I ship it back and get a new one, or give up on Xbox?

Damn, I really wanted to play New Vegas.

Is there any way to fix it?

You'd think after it red ringing so many times youd get a warranty.

Its also funny I've only had an Xbox die on me once in my eight year run.

I had a warranty, it expired a while ago though.

Time to get out a multimeter and a soldering iron and check exactly which connection's gone bust. From what I've heard, 360's are prone to forming hairline cracks after repeated heating and cooling on the solderings due to cheap no-lead solder. It's a tedious job but worth doing if you value your console.

Yes. Well that's only a contributing factor. Another factor is that maybe you would learn after 3 other xbox360's breaking on you. And another factor is that you really don't give a stuff about the xbox if you're too lazy to fix it, so why did you even make this thread?
