The teeth of a key are not necessarily on the bottom.
Actually, how you insert it depends on if the lock is locked or unlocked.
So there is no top or bottom to a key.

I agree with Eksi in that a key has no top or bottom, but I think it would look better the other way round.

When i want to un-lock a door most of the time i have to put the key in with the spiky bit facing the floor
