Author Topic: Buying a "hosting" PC.  (Read 2304 times)

Hia guys, im going to buy a computer to host a website and a 24/7 blockland server. I need help deciding what kind of low cost computer that would be good for this job. Can I use a old computer, such as a old dell CPU? Or do I need something more advanced? Thanks.

get the most crappy PC possible.
afaik you only need good internet connectivity.

I hosted a TF2 Dedicated Idle Server on a crappy XP PC and everyone had the average 20 - 30~ ping.

Under these guidelines a Dell would be great

Orly? So I could just pass out like $50 for it? O:

It's internet connection and stability that counts.

Hmm... I need to start ebaying.

Any suggestions?
I looked at the stuff myself and found plenty of scams

Whats a good price to ask for a computer with viruses? My neighbors own one that they arent using.

Make them pay YOU to take it.  :cookieMonster:

But no, depends on it's specs, how old it is, and how much they managed to forget it up.

I'm thinking I heard that you should have a decent CPU to handle everything, But I know jack stuff on this subject so I'm not sure.

Buy the Coolio's computer and put a CPU worth something in it.
