I was browsing around on WIMP, and I found this video.

I agree with this old man quite a lot.
Not only do we overuse computerized voices in today's society, but people are rarely talking to each other in public.
People need to be more hospitable.

Post your thoughts on the subject.

the only computerized voices i've heard in a long time are microsoft sam and miku.
what.

You have selected Microsoft Sam as your computer's default voice.

You must not've been to an airport recently.

so you want a guy to sit there all day saying random stuff? the hell.
seriously, who even cares. so a computer's telling that your plane crashed, whoop-dee-doo.

Then maybe pay attention to my other point.

you must be some kind of a shut in. i can't walk through my school halls without going deaf, let alone the actual public.

Not school.

The entire point of school, to kids, is to socialize.

Half of them don't give a stuff about education.

That's not the point. It's a much larger issue then just that. The human voice is how, since the begginning of man really, we've expressed ourselves. It what allowed us to connect. The human voice, in essence, is who we are as a people and the compassion - the empathy - we feel towards each other. And when we lose that we lose much of everything. When we let a schedule drive who we are, and we let our own small dramas cloud the larger picture, then our existance starts to dwindle. We become just a silent people who keep their heads down and just tries to make it through the crowd. That's what I got from it, at least.

So you'd rather have a guy speak stuff into a microphone 24/7 than simply have a computerized voice do it for you?

That's not the point, my friend.

But honestly, yes. And I'd be perfectly willing to volunteer for that position. :o
