Because being liberal and atheist is trendy, and said users like to believe they are unpredictable and unique.  By all subscribing to the same behavior, however, they become more predictable and uniform.

I studied Christian religion so that I could understand it, even though I don't believe a word of it, because beliefs and faiths shouldn't prevent you from learning and understanding, that's why all obsessively religious people can't back up their own arguments because they only understand a shallow and skewed piece of their own religion
