Author Topic: How to add new vertices in Blender?  (Read 22958 times)

I figured out how to move them and whatnot, but how do you add a new vertice(?) in Blender?

I have never done this before lol,I would just duplicate it and place it by grabbing it in edit mode by pressing "shift D"

Just duplicate it.

Logic.

Wait.
You can dupe vertices?
Well stuff.

But I want to add a vertice to a cube.

What do you mean, like, add a vertex (derp, there's no such thing as a vertice) on a line between two existing vertices?

I want to add another one of these circled things to the same mesh.

Select the vertex and extrude (E) it to where you want it.

I've got that, but I can't use that to do what I am trying to do.

I'm trying to make another one of those, but if I move it, I want it to change the cube's appearance.

He wants to add a vertex to the edge(s).

This would be useful for me as well.

Go to edge select mode and select edge, or select the two vertices of that edge, and then W>>Subdivide, or Subdivide multi
If that's not it, then I apologize.

I thinks that's it.

But what is
edge select mode
?
I don't see it anywhere.

There are some selection buttons, and they are little boxes with these icons in a row
1.) Bunch of dots  --  Vertices
2.) slash(edge button)  --  Edges
3.) Triangles  --  Faces
4.) Cube (occludes background geometry)

small question-When did you start working with Blender?
