Yes you read that headline correct. Major retailers, both physical and also online, have come on record and voiced concern that Valve's digital download service Steam is killing the PC market and they won't stand for it, threatening not to sell titles if publishers do not remove Steam integration from their games.
I see no problem with this.
Oh no they're banning steam games from stores where will I get my steam games now!?

lolwut?

Anyways, if I really feel the need to get a game, not quite sure it's location will change anything.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I can't buy online games IRL!

Oh wait. I can buy them over the internet.

I can't understand the logic behind this at all. I hope it's just a joke, I'd rather feel stupid than know that there are corporate jackasses that think this is a good idea. "Hey steam gets a lot of sales, let's make it so that they get ALL the sales! That'll teach them!"

“Ahhh im calling steam a monopoly for being convinient!”

”Ahhh im banning steam games from my selection and now have 5 games to choose from and no one enters my store anymore!”

Note this is just some British stores.

I'm not sure what world reducing the quality of your service is supposed to harm your competitor in but it's obviously not ours. I can see that maybe fewer games would be sold that require steam, but common sense says if Store A doesn't have the games customers want and Steam does, people will buy from Steam.

I have a slight problem with this because Team Fortress 2 from bestbuy is only 10$ :(

i use steam because i loving hate keeping track of CDs and CD-keys.
when i reinstall my computer i dont want to manually reinstall all the 20 games i actively play. forget that stuff.

nothing is stopping gamestop (or other game stores) from having their own digital download service.

Now that's pretty funny.
More sales = More buyers.

yeah lets ban steam supported games from our stores becuase obviously EVERYONE knows about steam and will never buy them fom us anyway
/sarcasm

This. CD Keys are the bane of my existence, it's why I can't play Battlefield 1942, BF: Vietnam, or any of the CnC games in the First Decade pack. All because I lost 2 goddamn slips of paper.

oh dude, you can register your information and key on the publisher's website. and then recover it all at a later time if needed.

its almost more a pain in the ass i would rather rebuy the game lol

raaaaaaaagh why am I just learning this now

the only time i even step foot in a gaming store is if i want a game release day and its not for digital download anywhere.

otherwise buying games off shelves is for losers lol.
half the games i play anyways, all make you use steam regardless. so even if you did buy the cd, you never need it again.
