Author Topic: Cache db. STILL not working in v19  (Read 962 times)

Okay, I posted this in the wrong category earlier, so I thought I would try the right category this time.

I have a mac and am having trouble with the cache db. on v. 19.  When I join a server, something pops up that says "Blockland could not write the cache database" and I get rid of that.  Then another pop up says "Blockland did not have permission to write the cache database... and then the game almost certainly will not work."  And then when I'm loading datablocks it shuts down Blockland and something comes up that says "Blockland quit unexpectantly" and gives me the options ignore, report, reopen.  I click ignore.  Can you help me?

The errors are telling you that Blockland cannot write to disk.  Blockland needs to be able to write to folder it is installed in.  The folder may be read only.  Your user permissions may be set to not allow you to write to the disk or to the folder that Blockland is installed in.  You may have some "security" software installed that is preventing the game from writing to disk.

A normal computer under default configuration will let programs write to disk.  There are an infinite number of ways you could have broken this functionality.  It is your responsibility to unbreak it.

i have had this problem too but ONLY untill i got v19 i NEVER had the problem in v16 -18 before and i the list of changes for v19, it says it fixes that problem! but  never even had it before so wtf

maybe because you only had v18 for about a day, and then all the other versions, the cache file was not implimented?

I have this problem to. :/ I can still play but I have to keep quitting the game and restarting so that it doesn't re-appear when I join a server. It's a real pain in the ass though.

How big is your Cache.db? A while back, mine was about 500MB... If it is over 200MB, delete it. I had this problem and I think it was caused by an oversized Cache.

Alright. I got it fixed! (I hope) I was able to change the reading/writing abilities on the file. Before it said only I could write the file.

Nvm i fixed it by getting rid of the cache.db
