I don't think it's stupid because of the number of liars on the internet.
I think it's stupid because people do it wrong ("lf gf plz add me") and there's a very slim chance (like, 1/100000) that you will ever go across a boarder to ever meet these people, no matter how much confidence you have ("we're gonna meet up next december and have babbis and marry *giggle* lol XD") That's if you can actually make it last longer than a month. Words alone are never enough to make you feel complete. Webcam would probably make things worse.
Of course. I know all of this from experience. Not much of it being my own. I'm an observer.
Don't think you're somehow different. That only shows ignorance. If you want to actually meet up. Then do it. If you procrastinate even a little, it's not happening.
