Leaving threads are all for attention, it's logical.
People make leaving threads since they want everyone to know they are gone, this is a "honest" leaving thread type, but it's still asking for attention.

it shouldn't ALWAYS be considered for attention

people state when they will be gone for trips that will take a while and the such, why wonder at how someone has stopped posting altogether when they can just make a post that states that they left.

As said, it's just an attention stunt. A large number of people who make threads stating they are leaving forever come back under an alternate account then continue the attention whoring by revealing they are an alt.
