Might be getting a new desktop for Christmas

I've told my parents that the only things on my Christmas list are either a PS3 or a new computer (with preference for the computer). They told me that they'd "think about it," which when said by my parents usually means yes. Seeing as hell would freeze over before I let my parents buy a pre-built computer, the whole idea of it being a legitimate Christmas present would be kind of ruined because they'd have to know what parts to order. So I decided I'd go put together a list of parts for the computer, which I've done, and I'd like your opinions on it. EDIT: Something I forgot to say is that this computer would be for the family, not just for myself.

Good? Any suggestions? This will be my first time assembling a custom computer so please let me know if I've selected anything completely incompatible with something else. Total price (including the rebate on the motherboard) is $1189.88.

What are you talking about? EVGA? They are one of the largest sellers of Nvidia cards. If you don't know that you shouldn't be commenting on a computer build thread.

I am only familiar with the numbered series. So excuse me for not being a computer expert.

You're spending a lot of unnecessary cash on the parts.

Oh, and make sure you're buying from a .uk site if your english or a .ie if your irish. Because if you try get something from america in england, you're going to be spending around $500 on shipping.. which isn't worth it.

Get a computer magazine and search up the parts you really want; then with the extra money you saved, get either a gtx 470, or if you can strectch it again, get 2 gtx 460's and use SLI.

I think technically Nvidia is the brand and EVGA is the manufacturer.

If it is a GTX 460 then it must be good then, as I've heard they are good cards.
