Author Topic: Are YOU too nice in-game?  (Read 1675 times)

I am usually very nice to anyone who drops by my server as long as they don't act like complete idiots. Usually then i just ban them for asking for admin or whatever they have done.

I'm extremely tolerant with administrating bans and kicks, but I do try a great deal to keep the peace for the majority of players. As for helping people, I don't give build help and I rarely give eventing help, because people who ask aren't looking to learn-- they just want free trust and for me to do it for them.

Anyone who can't listen is perma banned.

I cannot tolerate idiocy.

Why is why I hope to god my kids are above average.

I cannot tolerate idiocy.

You see, this is where it gets sticky. Where do you draw the line between idiocy and mistakes? Is it fair to ban people who aren't as knowledgeable as you? In a game with variations of ages, is it fair to compare the behavior of a 9 year old player to a 16 year old? Is it right to decide who plays and who doesn't over your own mood? Then, with that in mind, does that make you better or worse than the players you ban?

I just act like I would, cause I know they won't see me again...rarely

Completely depends on what I'm doing.

No unless I know the person

I almost always do.
If I'm able to provide as much help as possible, then I'll do so. But, I get annoyed if I give someone a hand (with anything) and they just keep using me to do all their work.

If someone wants me to show them how to do a piece of eventing (Usually newer members, as even I'm not that experienced), then I'll generally help them if I can, and if they've had a try at it.
Most of the time, it consists of newer players struggling to get Named Brick Events working.
(which provides extra problems, as they don't understand that you can only do Named Brick Events on a Named Brick that you own, so, I'll have to make an example for them)

I help with building things if possible too, although that's rarer. Generally, I get asked to do certain exterior structures (Roofing, mainly, and usually only by friends)

Although I do get annoyed with people using my kindness, I almost always help if it's not a major burden to myself or a burden to another person (So, I won't leave anyone who I'm already helping (Regarldess of how able they are) to help another person half way through)

I'm defintely too nice in otherways as well.
I quite often end up not shutting down my server because there is someone else on the server.
I feel bad if someone has joined to build and have fun, or see what I've done, and then I cut it short.
I quite often give warnings before I shut down, or apologize if someone joins after I've decided to shut down.

tl;dr, I'm too nice.

Usually I just have them build something off in the distance so they can feel like they are doing something and end up deleting whatever they made when I load the build next.
