Author Topic: Addon folders, downloaded from the internet [RTB] or a server?  (Read 549 times)

You know how there's folders and zip files inside the addons folder?

The folders are downloaded from a server, whereas the zip files are downloaded either from here or RTB, right?
Am I wrong?

Kinda need to prove a point to someone here, he's being a little bit childish and refusing to listen.
Perhaps you guys can help me prove him wrong?

Thanks,

This is true.  Because .zip files are full files that you can run ingame on your server, which in the case of joining their server, you cannot run their Add-Ons.  In Which Case, Badspot did it this way to prevent people from stealing Add-Ons, which if he set them as .zip Folders it would eliminate the purpose of private mods.  The regular Folders are for allowing you to view them ingame at other servers.  You have the Add-On, just not the full version.

I can't get a user on rtb can some one help me with it

i doubt it, i think he did it to lower the DLing amount, as you don't need the script to see the thing, as you're not running the script yourself, and if it did, it could delete BL or something like that when executed serverside

That is true, never thought of that.
Anyways, I like that system because it is safe as well.
