You're better off with fraps.

Fraps uses a lot of resources but so does all the other programs so the only thing you can do is get a capture card or upgrade your computer.

Also to make fraps use less resources, don't record sound, record at 15 or 30 fps instead of 60, record in half size, etc. If you do want sound just use a Source demo file to record the video without the sound then go back and record again at 1 fps then combine the audio with the video.

I have a single core 2.2 GHz and the last time I used Fraps there were no problems.

It's how I made those two videos on my youtube account in the first place.

The reason you guys need strong processors is because you play high-end games and run steam, and likely some other stuff like AV and whatnot.

Wow 1000 bucks. You got ripped off dude. I'm going to get a Quad Core or a Six Core processor package deal with a high end motherboard for only 300 bucks for Christmas. I think I'm going to get the quad core though because it benchmarked higher.

What resolution do you run your game at? Try running it at a lower resolution and even try playing in windowed mode. It will probably help a lot. It's not like youtube is high resolution or anything. I usually just conver my videos to 640x480 mp4 for fast upload.
