Author Topic: Blockland game start-up error  (Read 1980 times)

I have been currently having this problem with Blockland:
The program starts up fine, so does the RTB add-on, but when I try to start a single or multiplayer game or join a multiplayer game, it says Blockland cannot strt the game because the game is being read from a Read-only file, or something. does anyone have the solution to this problem? I have uninstalled and installed it like 3 times but that doesn't solve the issue. Help?

I remember getting something like this. For me it said that the game was being run strait from a DVD-ROM. That's just me but, do you have a lot of Add-Ons enabled in RTB?

No. I didn't even install RTB this time. I installed Blockland again straight from the website and tryed to start a single player game on the map "Bedroom" and it said this:
Could not write to cache database.
This can be caused by running the game from a read-only database or CD-ROM.

Yea that's what I get to. When you join an online game, what you need to do is join it, then when that message pops up, quit the game, restart it, and join that server again. In an offline game, your only option is to have as little add-ons as possible enabled when you start a game. For me, I like to try and only use 100 add-ons maximum.

Yeah I didn't download any add-ons. Are you talking about default add-ons?

No, I was talking about other add-ons. But by the sound of it, you hadn't done anything to the game and it still gives you the error?

Yeah. I've done nothing to it but download and install it and it's still giving me the error message.

Dude don't worry, it doesn't mean that the game isn't going to work. You just got to ignore it. Trust me, a lot of people have the same thing. Hopefully it will be patched in v20.

I guess I'll just have to

You could move the Blockland file out of the Program file and directly into the C drive.

Didn't work for me D:

Well, Program file acts like a brat (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pQGtucrJ8hM) and restricts what Blockland can do. It should work.

I see what you're getting at, but how can we fix this problem?

Move the Blockland folder out of the Program File and into the C Drive.
