Author Topic: And here is my book so far...  (Read 2735 times)

Ok, due to the nice feedback I received on the 60-second story topic, I've decided to post my progress on my book here.

•Chapter One•
The stars flew by at amazing speeds, only small blurs of white lights at this speed. A planet was visible in the distance, slowly getting larger as the ship approached it. It's rings were barely visible, but they were massive and incredible with their astounding color.
Magnus Neera focused on her reflection, hearing someone approaching. The door opened and a lady with long black hair entered the room. She was slightly taller than Magnus, who stood 5'7". Her eyes were an icy blue and had a look of authority to them.
"Staring off into space again?" she asked, leaning against the railing. Magnus glanced at her before turning back to the window.
"You could say so," she replied. "How much longer is it until we reach base on XMT?"
"Not for a few hours," the lady replied, turning to the observation window. "I take it you're excited about the new device?"
Magnus looked at her, puzzled. "Vectra, what new device?" Magnus asked.
"Heh," Vectra chuckled. "So I suppose they didn't tell you about the program?" she said. "Well, they call it the CORE program and they plan on giving it to you."
Magnus slowly nodded and looked again at the window. "What does it do?"
"Well..." Vectra began, looking thoughtful. Magnus watched her through the reflection on the window. "It's hard to explain," she said, "But I'll do my best." Taking a deep breath, Vectra began describing the program.
"I see," Magnus said after Vectra had finished talking. "It's very..." Magnus trailed off as she looked for the words to describe it. "Complex."
"Yes," Vectra said, closing her eyes and nodding. "Very. But they said it's best fit for you."

No more until I finish my schoolwork, sorry :P

Maybe it should have been done before you posted it?

It takes time to write a whole book, you know. It's not just, "Hey I've got an idea!" and POOF it's all on paper or in text, okay? And not everyone has a ton of time on their hands to type out their book from memory.

I have a little bit of time, I think I'll finish typing out chapter 1.

A few hours had passed and the ship was now docked at the XMT space station. Most of the crew had left the ship to help with restocking. Technicians were assisting the ship's engineers with hull and internal repairs of the massive ship. The space station was overall a busy place. A place you wouldn't want to get lost in.
Magnus left the ship with Vectra, hoping she would lead her to the science department for this new "program". But instead, Vectra left on a different course, not seeming to notice that Magnus was following her.
With plenty of time before departure, Magnus decided she would explore the station with the off-chance of finding the science department on her own. The hallways were full of busy people going to and fro, some carrying items and others not. It didn't take very long for Magnus to find a quiet hallway.
That was strange, though. The long hallway was dead silent in comparison to the others. Magnus could hear her footsteps echoing, suggesting that there was much more to this hallway than she expected.
As she walked, Magnus pondered why the hallway was so quiet. It looked just fine, but perhaps everyone was just too busy to bother entering the hall? It seemed to be used mainly for storage, but wouldn't they need to access the items from storage? Magnus shook her head. She would have to figure it out later.
Looking at her watch, Magnus was surprised at how long she had been walking until she reached a large door labeled 'HANGAR A'. With a quick look around, curiosity overcame her and Magnus quickly hacked the keypad and entered the large room.

Chapter 2 will be typed in eventually.

I'm not taking pride, I'm basically asking for criticism so that I can get better at writing.
