Author Topic: Datablock Limit. Why do we have one?  (Read 1694 times)

In the title. Main target for questioning is badspot.

Any posts such as "Why would you need any more addons" or "So people dont enable too much stuff" will be ignored.

It's because Badspot built it with torque. Torque limits the amount of datablocks any given game can have altogether, As any other game engine would do. It is sort of like bandwidth.

So that hosts won't have 20 thousand add-ons.

You are an immature dumbforget.

Where the hell did this come from/

He obviously read the top of it and decided to be annoying.
Anyway, this is just derailing the topic even more.

You're stupid. He was right. That is one of the reasons that Badspot hasn't even attempted to increase the datablock limit.

offtopic: i enjoy you avatar very much............. :D

The datablock limit has always been in place, due to the way Torque was made. We still have it in place because it is a reasonable limit and it's not really worth the time removing it just so people can run around with a ridiculous amount of add-ons that largely go unused.

I believe it has been doubled twice since the alpha. Again, reasonable.

Isn't that limit built in as the safety zone before everything can go wonky?

its to stop data from star trek from playing BL

I'm not even going to answer this properly. Why the hell would anyone need more than 4k datablocks?

Ahem....Big ass TDM/RP/Thingy?

Why would anyone limit the capabilities of an engine on purpose by limiting the amount of content that can be used? :/
