Author Topic: Nuclear bomb threat?  (Read 12882 times)

First off, it's laser, not lazer.

Lastly, that would be really dumb. Lasers aren't high powered enough to blast through metal.

okay, laser.

Its not dumb, its fact.

you counter a missile with a lazer, but when it explodes in space the world suffers radiation. also, if NK released all the nukes, we dont have enough lazers to counter them all.
I doubt we possess sufficient technology to utilize effective laser weaponry.

Well its true, we have plane-mounted lasers, Humvee-mounted (smaller) lasers, and ground based lasers.

but the important part is that we can't defend against a bunch of nukes coming for us.

No, we don't.

Yes we can.

North Korea vs South Korea will break out in a war, and a police action from US will be filed, like the Vietnam war.
Not exactly. The United States was asked for assistance in the Vietnam war from South Vietnam. In the Korean situation, the United States has what is called a Mutual Defense Treaty. If the United States is attacked, the South Koreans come to our aid; and vise versa. We would have a war on our hands, not a "police action".

If a country did start a war and fired nuclear missles, all bets would be off for the most part and it would probably escalate to a full scale war with several nations involved, ending in the defeat for both parties.

Well its true, we have plane-mounted lasers, For targeting enemy aircraft, not firing the phasers and photon torcreepes.
Humvee-mounted (smaller) lasers, For breaking up riots i think.
and ground based lasers. Now these are the ones to use against nukes.
My only doubt now is the ability to target the actual incoming missile, before it impacts.

Real or not, we are currently not using them in our army (At least, thats what they tell us)

We aren't. Trust me, several people in my family are in the army.

You are handicapped! You are speculating, I have watched specials and read articles on it!!! (There are also Humvee-mounted microwave crowd control thingys)

Actually, i had heard that they have one in operation out in Iraq for shooting down rockets, but supposedly it requires immense amounts of power to operate.
