For Christmas I wanted some music by Deadmau5 and I told her that the genre was Trance. Then she started getting all negative at the name. She thinks because "It puts you in a trance" that it's evil, and it's against Christianity.

She's also against Pokemon because it translates to "Pocket Monsters." Well, she says anyway.

Plus, when I told her about this one game where it uses brainwaves to make a blue ball move across an obstacle course, (forgot the name Mindflex) she said it was evil because it involved levitation, and that by playing it you sell your soul to the devil.

I'm thinking about relinquishing Christianity at this point because of this.

Yeah, and the funny thing, I used to play a FPS and tell her all about it, and she didn't give a sh!t. I think it was Combat Arms. Either that or Assault Cube, I don't play either of them nowadays due to my laptop's shutting down on graphically intensive programs--even flash. I played a flash game for half an hour, and it crashed.

And you know what else, I did this while my sister and I were rearranging the furniture for the Christmas tree. (Not 100% full, but almost) and when I told her the genre name she was all like "ITZ EBIL!!" even though she didn't have a problem with it before. She wasn't bobbing her head, but she certainly didn't act the same way before I said "Trance."

Your mother is stupid. There are some people in the church I go to that think the same about Pokemon. Luckily I, and my family, know that it's their opinion. Tell your mom that the "pocket monsters" is the same as the Avatar hindu god thing. That is, of course, if she didn't believe that.

Also tell her that trance is just a term, with no correlation to being in a trance. That it's just depicting getting into your music.

You belong to the same religion, that doesn't mean she is the sole advocate for it and you must believe and practice it the same way. I'm not saying you're not allowed to stop believing in it, but it seems that you'd just be doing it out of spite or rebellion.

Your mother is a poor excuse for a Christian, IMO. As a Baptist Christian, It only makes sense to me to take into account common sense when dealing wih the real world. Just because something is called Trance does not mean it is evil. Levitation is not evil. Jesus used levitation when ascending to heaven. It's not technically witchcraft/evil unless it is being used for evil purposes or is not endowed by the creator upon the individual.
